Today, the Trump Administration announced its proposed budget for FY2018.  As feared, it has taken the unprecedented action of calling for the entire elimination of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), as well as the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

These cuts will have a profound impact upon the arts nationwide–and in California, which receives over $9 million in NEA funding alone.

We must fight this!

Californians for the Arts has linked arms with the Arts Action Fund of Americans for the Arts to #SaveTheNEA and will be represented at next week’s National Arts Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C.  Also, a separate delegation of Californians for the Arts leaders paid a visit to the Capitol in January with leaders of other western states, organized by WESTAF, to meet with our elected officials in Congress.

Arts & culture have many friends in Congress on BOTH sides of the aisle, and we have a real chance to reverse this ill-conceived proposal by the White House to eliminate the small but important investments made by the federal government.

But this can only be accomplished if we all rise to voice our concerns!

NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION, and our friends at Arts Action Fund have made this very easy to do here.

PLEASE inform your colleagues, friends, family and social media networks by sharing this Action Alert with them and asking them to speak up for arts & culture.

Together we will prevail!
